DNA & Cells

A jigsaw puzzle of the DNA double helix.

A puzzle of the double helix of DNA.

Introduction

What is DNA? What are cells? DNA is what gives an organism it's characteristics - from hair colour, eye colour, right down to the size of the organism itself. Cells make up either the whole of the organism [in terms of prokaryotes], or a small part of the organism [eukaryote organisms]. Find out about what DNA is, and how cells make up our bodies, as well as how cells form the smallest of organisms.

Below is a list of sections that you can view information on in this section.

The difference between Haploid and Diploid is that a haploid cell only contains one set of chromosomes in it, whereas a diploid cell contains two sets of chromosomes. This is explained further in the page about cells in our body.

Also on this page is the different types of cells we have in our body, and explains what each one does.
